The Hardness Conversion Chart below provides both the Brinell Hardness and Rockwell Hardness readings, as well as the tensile strength numbers.

Brinell Hardness Test - Measures the hardness of a metal by pressing a steel ball into the surface by dividing the amount of force by indentation area.

Rockwell Hardness Test - Different from the Brinell hardness figures, the Rockwell Hardness Test uses three different scales, the most common being the B and C scales. The B scale uses a steel ball, while the C scale uses a cone-shaped diamond. They both measure the difference in penetration depth under both minor and major loads.

Tensile Strength - Measures the amount of stress necessary to result in material failure.
