Shelmet achieved a zero material waste when our design and casting experts replaced the previous method of producing this part to one that was accomplished in a single step.
Previously this part started as a solid chunk of material. The excess material was machined away, rather like whittling away at a block of wood. That process left a lot of wasted material..
This part is now cast from 4140 stainless steel, including both the top and side holes. By investment casting this part, there is no finishing, no machining and absolutely zero material waste.
Once again Shelmet succeeded in saving our client both time and money, which is another reason our clients stay with us through the years.
